The Railway Board has issued a clarification on Compassionate Ground Appointments (CGA) through letter dated 13 August 2024. The circular explains the time limits and approval authorities for delayed CGA cases in Indian Railways.

- Applications for compassionate appointment should normally be submitted within:
- 5 years from the date of death/medical invalidation, or
- 2 years after attaining majority if the dependent was a minor.
