South Western Railway Commercial Inspector Recruitment 2026: 21 Vacancies | Eligibility, Important Dates & Selection Details

South Western Railway (SWR), Bengaluru Division, has released a notification inviting applications from eligible employees of the Commercial Department for 21 Commercial Inspector (Ex-Cadre) posts. This is a volunteer-based tenure assignment and not a promotional post. Employees working in Level-6 and Level-7/8 can apply by submitting the prescribed application form through the proper channel.

  • Level-7/8: 12 Posts

  • Level-6: 9 Posts

Eligibility

Employees must belong to the Commercial Department and be working in Pay Level-6 or Level-7/8. Candidates who have already completed 4 years as Commercial Inspector or are currently serving in the same ex-cadre post are not eligible. Employees who have worked in any other ex-cadre post must complete the required cooling-off period before applying.

Selection Process

Selection will be made based on seniority and suitability by a 3-member committee. Submission of an application does not guarantee selection, and only suitable candidates will be empanelled.

Tenure & Service Conditions

The Commercial Inspector post is a tenure assignment for 3 years, which may be extended by 1 year + 1 year based on administrative requirements. Selected employees will continue on their existing pay and level, as this is not a promotion. They should be willing to work anywhere in Bengaluru Division and may also be transferred periodically. Employees with unsatisfactory performance may be repatriated to their parent cadre before completing the tenure.
